Solidarity Week begins today
December 8, 2008
We’d like to declare this week Solidarity Week. A week in which every Sri Lankan has the opportunity to join hands in Solidarity, irrespective of their gender or sexuality. As long as we can celebrate diversity in every aspect of our lives, we as a nation have no need to be divided the way we have been for so many years. And we on the solidarity team are striving to harbour the spirit of togetherness in one of those areas of diversity during this week which ultimately lead up to the Solidarity Gaymes this Saturday. Maybe we can join in this bandwagon of celebrations where we are right now, at work or home or on the road or at a cafe… wherever you are reading this, look around you and celebrate the fact that not everything around is the same. That makes you unique as well!
When we said celebration, we didn’t quite mean party in the streets. we meant celebrate in your heart and then celebrate outside. We hope we haven’t disappointed you but before we party we need to come together in solidarity to do that. But Saturday will indeed be a day of celebration and that is a promise.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue & purple… come out and show the world your true colours people!
Come out with us and party. Come out and play.
I’m not sure what exactly this is about… but you guys and gals certainly have your rights and entitlements!
